Choosing A Password

In general, your password should:

Be at least 12 characters in length
Include at least three of the four different types of characters (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols)
Be changed at least every 12 months.
Not contain your first name, your middle name, your username, or your last name; any name shorter than three characters is not checked.
Not be one of the last four passwords you have used previously

Note that if your account has special password requirements which differ from these rules, you will be shown those requirements when attempting to set your password.

Your Username

Your Ball State Username is used to access most services at Ball State, including Canvas, Office365, Banner, and other online resources. This username and password are valid while you are a current student or employee. Once you leave Ball State your username will be deactivated.

Policy

Your Ball State University account is governed by the Users’ Privileges and Responsibilities Policy and your usage of it implies assent to the information contained within it.
